Candace Cates graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Political Science) in 1978 and Bachelor of Law in 1983, both from the University of British Columbia. She completed her articles at a firm in Kamloops and was called to the Bar in 1984. Candace joined Jensen Mitchell Carroll in 1991 and became a partner in 1997. The firm evolved to Cates Carroll Watt and after a merger with Taylor Epp & Dolder became Epp Cates Oien.
She is a member of the Kamloops, BC and Canadian Bar Associations, the Law Society of British Columbia, the Interior Women’s Law Forum and she has volunteered her skills at the pro-bono clinic.
